ok, so i opened cydia this evening and found i had 4 updates
one was for SBsettings, one for mobilesubstrate, and i think the others were theme updates
i also installed a task list for SBsettings
now, after the respring, the springboard went into safe mode
    i rebooted, twice
    but it didn't do anything
obviously it was one of the packages i had just installed, and, i forgot to mention, there was an error for one, but it wasn't due to the partial file thing, so it didn't give me any options but to continue and respring

is there any way to get out of safe mode without restoring and re-jailbreaking?

thanks for any and all help in advance!

Respring? I guess rebooting would have done that though.. Use a different theme and maybe it will undo after the respring.

    yeah, that didn't work
i didn't' think it would since i hadn't applied anything new
    definitely one of the updates
but, i guess a restore won't kill me
i can just ssh real quick and take some stuff off
    xP
    thanks anyways

if you could remember what packages screwed up while updating you could try reinstalling them in cydia. you can also try unchecking everything in winterboard and respring see if that works.

but a restore once in a while is a good thing

oh, yeah, concerning that, i forgot to mention
    cydia crashes on opening
everything is now UNCHECKED in winterboard
    my categories folders don't work
    SBsettings doesn't work
    and quickgold doesn't work
i'm dumping some stuff onto my desktop righ tnow
then i'm just gonna restore and re-jailbreak
