Is there any way to increase the volume level. One reason I upgraded was for a speaker but it is not very good. Will there at least be a way after a jailbreak is available

    The volume control buttons?

The speaker is really ment for casual listening not something you'll use all the time.

Yeah, if you really want a better speaker I would consider the iPhone, but don't leave it turned up to long, you'll blow the speaker on any iDevice with ease. I know the iPhone isn't an option for some but the speaker is louder.

Well its not ment for just listening. Get a radio with an iPod dock if you want to listen to it non stop with out headphones.

Meh, I'm not used to the speaker, so for me it's awesome!

Honestly, if you're in a relatively quiet room it's a comfortable volume.

You can't really fit a great speaker in that small of a space... seriously, people are expecting wayy too much from something so small and thin.

The volume has alot to do with the recorded volume, not just the ipod volume setting. Some podcasts I listen to are loud and clear, and others are barely audible with any background noise in the room. I, too, would prefer a louder speaker, because sometimes I don't feel like putting in earphones, sometimes I don't have them with me. But I guess this is a necessary tradeoff that Apple must have consciously made. The Ipod is a thin device and I'm sure they would have put in a better speaker if they could.

It's an upgrade from what was in the previous form factor, which is all that matters.
