I have watched videos of the SIP-VoIP mic from touchmods, and I pre-ordered one, and I was curious if the mic can also double as a speaker for regular sounds on the iPod touch instead of using the headphones, such as listening to music and any other application that involves listening. Is this possible? Or can the mic only work with anything related to the VoIP phone application?

Are you refering to the ipod touch? If so, well the piezo dosent output actual sounds, there low volume pre defined clicks and dings.

Just basic sounds for that piezo.

Yes I was referring to the iPod touch. So the mic will only allow you to speak into it, and it will not have any other small secondary functions, correct?

I am just trying to see how much use I can get out of it once I place an order.

the mic has no speaker, i thought you were talking about the ipod itself. No speaker around that mic. And like i mentioned before the piezo in the touch can not output sounds live voice.

Alright. Do you know of any other useful thing that the mic could do besides just for the SIP-VoIP phone application and Voice Notes? $45 for a mic seems like a bit much for something that can rarely be used.

it is just a mic, it amplifies the signal of the mic so your ipod touch can use it. that's all it is! no more, no less
if you want it cheaper, just order the pieces yourself and solder it!
