This really pisses me off. Sparrow is the best mail app I have used and I only recently purchased it after someone here recommended it. Only one that seems to easily handle my 9 email accounts across multiple providers. The Gmail app is stupid to me. Yeah its great if you have one email but its completely worthless if you have many. It's also the only app that has an archive button that lets me quickly on all accounts get messages out of my inbox to a saved location. If Google was going to use this to bring a sparrow like app to Android for my Nexus 7 and keep developing the iOS version I would be fine with it. I think the chances are pretty darn slim....

Seeing as Google does squat on the non-web-computing front, expect Sparrow to die. If it doesn't, expect it to be a pile of

EDIT: You want some sort of evidence. Google hasn't touched desktop computing except for Google Drive, and that was only to quickly grab a share of the quickly depleting market space. Their iOS Gmail app is a sluggish pile of. Even the Gmail web app is faster, albeit, like any web app pain to use. And it shows how much a company cares if the force users to resort to using a web app.

Does anyone know what the next best app is for iOS/Android?

Default Mail client or Gmail are the only other contenders I've seen.

Thoroughly disappointed at Google destroying something that was doing to incredibly well.

I never got into the Sparrow hype. I used Sparrow on Mac OS Snow Leopard before Apple nicely revamped its native mail client in Lion. And honestly, I don't know what the difference between the mail client in iOS and Sparrow. They look very identical.

I bought this a ways back. I hope I don't regret my purchase.

Sorry, I had to say it...

"Also, since Sparrow had an excellent Mac client, it’s worth nothing that Google may be considering a dedicated Gmail Mac app."
