Ok, this message is just to let you know that I have 'officialy' started my ipod touch/iphone development project and it will be a soulseek client which it's main goal will be to be a simple but free alternative to built-in iTunes Store application.

I learned most basic Objective-C stuff (I already know a lot of smalltalk so it was quite easy) and made a test app that successfully connects to the soulseek network and does other testing stuff.

For a first public version, it will fully support:

    - Connect to the soulseek network (doh

    )
    - Search for files (only music for now)
    - Of course, download these files
    - Add them to the ipod internal music library

So far I got every tool I need to do the above. The only situation I'm facing is that I don't have much time to spend on programming (work+college+girlfriend, you know), but I will do my best to have anything as soon as possible.

Future versions may include more features, and they will be mostly based upon user feedback/requests since I don't really need more than those mentioned above.

    Stay tuned!

That sounds awesome. but i have 2 questions
    1. Will it cost money per download? (probably an obvious question)
    2. Will it add the songs to the itunes labrary and let me listen to it with the mobile music player or would i have to use phpPod

1- soulseek is a free p2p network so the answer is NO, you won't have to pay anything to download music.
2- yes, it will add songs to the library so you will be able to listen to all downloaded music from the builtin player (i.e. MobileMusicPlayer app)

sounds awesome. are you just going to steal some code from the mobilestore.app to figure out how to write tags? im just really interested because this would be the best thing since the download plugin. when do you think it will be done, or in alpha/beta stage? i'd be happy to beta test it for you.

I already have and tested every tool I need to manage the music library so I won't need to look into mobilestore app source (how would the source code be available for us anyway?)

about alpha/beta release schedule... not sure yet, I hope to have something public in one month or so

    I'd LOVE to beta this!
One thing: Can you give us the option to not share? When I'm at my cousin's house I'm 100% sure they won't let me use this unless they know I can't share anything. [Paranoid freaks]
