While there are drawbacks to applications do massive installations of sources, I think that if used responsibly and in moderation, you can prevent your installer app from slowing to a crawl and crashing. That being said, does anyone know some good source installers? I just had to rebuild my ipod and I hate having to track down all of the sources and put them in individually.

Back up your source list before restoring your iPod, that's what I do, I even had iLiberty+ payload my sources into my iPod while it was jailbreaking.

    Just save this: /private/var/mobile/Library/Installer/PackageSources.plist

After restoring, replace it with the backup.

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but it's a nice way around having to manually enter all your sources back in.
