Somenone please i bought a ipod touch 1st gen and its on 1.1.1

    Hey,


    I just wanted to know how to Update the firmware to 2.2.1 or 2.2.0 or whatever so i can jailbreak it.

    i looked all over the net and i cant find anything


    I bought this itouch off some bastard who told me it was a second gen


    Please help

    you can update to 2.1 and stuff for free, and 3.0 is gonna cost you 10 bucks.

    That kinda stinks. iTunes will only let you update to the latest firmware version though. So you will have to pay $10 for the update.

    Plug your iPod in, and put it in DFU Mode.
    Go to iTunes and press RESTORE, you will now legally obtain the 3.0 firmware file for free.

    * This is legal, because it is using Apple's software to obtain the software.
    All you're doing is using the exploit to your advantage, which is perfectly legal.

    It's not really 100% legal but it's just an easy loophole
