I just bought the new 4th generation iPod Touch on the apple.com website and realized that the model number of the 8gb (the one i bought) is different to that of the 32gb version? does this mean im going to be left out in the cold again like my late 2009 8gb model?

Different sizes and colours (and even engraved devices) all have different model numbers, to easily distinguish in orders and for warranty purposes.

This time around, the only difference between models are sizes, otherwise hardware is all the same.
