Hey guys! Well, I'm thinking about hackintoshing a computer, and I need some answers before I buy anything...

    1. What is the most well prepared laptop that can run hackintosh for 400$? What about 500$? 600?

    2. Will a hackintosh computer be identical to a OS X? Or will it be stripped down, less functional, etc...

    3. What is the difference between the different hackintosh distros? Which one is the best for a beginner?

    4. Will a retail OS X disk work ok?

    5. Is it really worth it?

Thanks guys! And please don't give me or pm me illegal links. I just want info. Thanks in advance.

    2. Yes. The only differences may be bluetooth, wireless, and infrared. (Which you can buy for your computer or laptop)
    3. They are based on hardware configurations.
    4. Yes, you have do some work before you simply pop the dics in, though.
    5. Yes. Defiantly.

The Dell mini 9 is the best bet if you are going for cheap. It works almost perfectly

Ok thanks for responses... The only thing that i'm put off by is how illegal it is haha. But i might have to take the chance if it really is worth it. Dell mini9 is good? Isn't it a netbook though? Would 2G of SDRAM make up for that? I would use it as a media and really a secondary computer. And kewl, or anyone with a Dell, how is the battery life?
