Yesterday i tried to jailbreak my iPod touch 16GB with Ziphone2.5 and "bricked" it.
first i got stucked in the endless loop with the boot codes. then i tried to enter the recovery mode which worked fine first, but it would NOT reinstall anything (iTunes would not find 1.1.4 and stop with an error message). then after trying to install 1.1.3 everything would stop, and itunes did NOT find the ipod anylonger.

it was not possible to enter the recovery mode again! i tried at lest 2 hours! i restarted the iMac, i stoped all iTunes related processes : no succes.

so HERE is the solution for all that cannot enter recovery mode. its simple1

    JUST CHANGE THE USB PORT!

    1. connect iPod to ANOTHE USB PORT than before (THAT WAS CRUCIAL!)
    2. press power AND home butten together
    3. after iPod powers of wait a second and release power button
    4. now iTunes should recognice the iPod again!

accept if your ipod is working again you didn't brick it.
its pretty much impossible to brick your ipod.

    i also got quite mad...
but changing to another USB Port seemed to help!

however: my itunes does <NOT> provide me with the update files... is there another source for a 1.1.3 firmware update file?

http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ has drop-downs with all the fws for iPhone/iPod

btw. with the BSD error looping, you can just hold down power + home for about 15 secs and it'll pop you into restore mode in iTunes. Then just shift-click on restore and choose the .ipsw file that you downloaded from the site above.

You do not have to restore.

ZiPhone can kick it out of restore mode and you will get back to your home screen with your music, videos, apps, and webclips intact. As if you did nothing to it at all.

    same thing here.
ist this a error with the service? or is it a new "feature" that lets iTunes recognize jailbroken iPods??
