I soft upgraded my iPod touch to 1.1.4 today and was wondering if that's just as good as jailbreaking it cuz I'm not really sure of the difference between the 2

If you did a soft upgrade it was already jailbroken

A soft update is a jailbroken Firmware 1.1.x with firmware 1.1.y patched onto it.

I think thats how SkylerEC put it.

He's correct. If you don't understand, you probably didn't pass Algebra or didn't understand it.

Also, if you can u would always want a hard jailbreak, becuase it is the actual firmware properly on and generally soft upgrades drain battery life substantially

Ok, for example, the current soft update patches 1.1.4 onto a Jailbroken 1.1.2. There, understand?

    I hate math.
