I decided that it's finally time to update to the current 2.1 firmware.

On my ipod touch right now, I am using firmware 2.0.

So all I do to update is to connect to Itunes 8, and hit update to 2.1???

Then if I want to jailbreak, use quickpwn 2.1 to perform the jailbreak??

I have the aptbackup from cydia to backup all of my cydia apps.... but everything else will be wiped out right??

Everything will not be wiped out. I updated and it kept my email info, contacts and local weather info. Songs vids images were all wiped though. JB with quickpwn was really simple and easy though. As long as you browse to the file. Find your firmware before trying to jb though. If you cant find it, go to the right folder and click view, show hidden files. Took me extra time until I figured that out.

    Thanks for your reply.

One more question... You haven't had any problems receiving email notifications have you?

I was googling around and noticed some people had issues with the email app, and receiving emails.

    Oh really? Sweet!

In what ways do you notice that?

Oh and should I restore my ipod before I update? I thought that you lose 500 MB or something like that if you don't...
