Okay, so no I'm not a noob or nub as some of you may say.

I had a 2G that got stolen, and have been without my iPod for a few months now, and now that it's taxes time my mom is going to give me and my sister around $500 and I'm wanting to buy a new iPod Touch 3G. I know the 3G jailbreak is tethered only at the moment which I hate, but I'm glad I have quite a few apps!

So basically I'm wanting to know if I should go through and buy the 3G.

I think you should buy it, but I also think you should take into strong consideration that a new iPod touch will come out later on, if you're willing to wait.

The next iPhone and iPod touch is going to be really fast.
There's a lot of competition now, so Apple is [hopefully] starting to step it up.

Put aside the current jailbroken state of the iPod touch 3g and just buy it for what it really is, a great portable media player.

    So yes..

^ This, if you are going for an 8 GB then go for a 2G.

I got one of the new 8GB, kept it for 4 weeks then sold it and bought a 32. The 8GB kept running low on memory making some of the games lag so yeah I'd suggest the 32 or 64. If you do buy, the best deal is from Amazon which is linked at the top of this page. Bought both of mine from them.
