I'm updating my Mac to the latest version of iTunes right now, so I won't be able to use Jailbreakme. The problem is, I can't restore my 3.1.3 jailbroken iPod touch to anything but 4.0.2 (iTunes recognizes the device, but it won't boot). So I'm hoping I can jailbreak 4.0.2 somehow, but a lot of the threads on this forum are out of date with the latest iTunes update.

I'm guessing that you don't have your shsh blobs backed up, so you won't be able to downgrade to anything, you'll be on 4.02 till a jailbreak comes out. Why do you need to restore your iPod for though? I would just sit tight till you're able to jailbreak.

I'm pretty certain I backed them up in Cydia.

Anyway, my Mac recognizes my iPod touch, and says it has all of its files on it, but I have a black screen with Apple logo. I've tried the connect to iTunes and wait, but still just the Apple logo. Restore doesn't work unless I upgrade to 4.0.4. So perhaps I should open a new thread in the correct forum with my problem? I was hoping to just go straight to 4.0.2.

EDIT: the fix worked the 4th time I tried it. Safe on 3.1.3 for now; will wait for a 4.0.2 update.

Go to 4.0 and jailbreak with jailbreakme. iTunes version doesn't matter.

    There won't be a 4.0.2 jailbreak ever.

Probably not, because the iPhone dev will more than likely wait until 4.1 to realease another JB.

That is true but the exploit on 4.1 (if exists and found) most likley be present in 4.0.2

    While this is true, ^^^

They still wouldn't release it for 4.0.2 as Apple would just patch it before the final release of 4.1.

I personally think they should wait anyways until the next generation of iPod Touch is released so the exploit would still be present. (if said exploit exists)
