    becasue I didn't want to spend 299 and i thought i wouldn't need
32GB, i just bought a 8GB new ipod touch to upgrade from my
1st generation 8GB. but i guess this is not actually a 3rd generation?
what the hell? then did i get all ripped off?

I asked the person who works in apple when i was there to buy it,
    "what's the difference between 8GB and 32/64BGB?"
and he said that everythings the same except for the fact that
32/64s are slightly faster. I even asked them if 8GB comes with a
mic/earphone just like 32/64, and he said yes. of course it did not.
so he had to give it to me for free.

anyways, what do you think, guys?
should i just keep 8GB? or am i stupid?

No the 8GB doesn't have the "guts" of the 32GB and 64GB.

All it received was a price cut and a reduction in battery life, which as of yet has failed to make sense.

So how come you bought it after the apple employee told you it was the same?

I'd return it and keep your old 8gb.

Where does it say that the battery life decreased?

Other people have experienced a shorter battery life.

if you were looking for a 3G iPod touch then you got ripped off and you should return it...otherwise just keep it...and everything on the 3G is not the same as previous versions...there is a big speed upgrade, voice control(not in the 8GB)headphones with remote+mic (not supposed to come with an 8GB but you got a good deal)

Check the Apple online store. The Late 2008 model has 36 hours of audio, the late 2009 has 30.

I don't think the battery is any different, probably Apple has done a new test with different procedures?

well it might be slow but have you ever thought of the use of 50% faster to your head when you thought about the battery? it might be a battery life drop but they have speed improvements in there...unless you are talking about the 8GB then idk lol

Maybe the battery life has dropped to reflect Push notifications in 3.0. That uses some battery power, though much less than fetch.
