I couldn't of put it better my self, snow leopard is just ironing out the creases in leopard and making it easier and faster. At first i was thinking that apple should of implemented some of their features to make the u.i better but yeah the whole point of snow leopard is to make the transition seamless. and at $29 you cant complain at all because thats a steal lol!

I'm thinking about getting Snow Leopard. Is it worth the upgrade from tiger?

well yeah true but many tiger users have lots of gripes with leopard/snow leopard eg:the 3d dock, transparency on menu mar (due to quartz extreme) and the change from tigers brushed metal look etc. but yeah its worth the upgrade, technology is changing loads and is advancing like mad,And in this world of technology, forward is always the best.It has many things that will make life easier and faster.

And if your worried about the looks, you can customize it :D But you have to make sure you have a intel mac,not ppc, make sure you read the recommended, ended specs here >> http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/specs.html

Mac OS X Snow Leopard is installing!

Very thrilled to FINALLY have Snow Leopard installing, I've heard from several close buddies that Snow Leopard really does improve overall speed of your Mac, depending on your configurations. I'll post an update once it's done and I've had a chance to test it.

I have a Mac Pro 8-core 2.8 with 10GB ram, and I can def tell a speed difference. Safari is a LOT faster. Finder responds a lot quicker, the gamma shift is very noticeable, and if you look at the activity monitor you will see that it really works with threads a LOT better. I am a vfx professional, and I loaded up a scene I worked on from Drag me to Hell. It was a very processor intensive scene that really choked up Nuke. Well, it was still a bit slow to process frames....BUT it loaded the frame a LOT faster than it had, and what I noticed was that while loading a frame my cpu usage for that app jumped to 765%, then when it was done and just sitting idle it dropped to 1.1% that is a significant improvement of data flow! Multi-thread programming is a NIGHTMARE....SL is doing multi-thread in a new way that takes a lot of the burden away from the programmer and puts it on the OS. Very well done Apple...once again you amaze me.

I love my Mac, I only have a Vista partition to run games on!

    Warning!

Installed it yesterday and it runs great. Quicktime X is cool (though I haven't been able to tell whether my pro account has been transferred or not), and the little tweaks to dashboard and overall speed are amazing.

    However....

If anyone is using iStat Menu. Locate the preference pane and view contents. Then go into resources and run the uninstaller.

Do this BEFORE or AS SOON AS you install Snow Leopard. It causes the finder to eventually freak out, and the menubar will constantly try to reload it. Rebooting results in killing your Finder.app and you have to re-install. I've already had to re-install Snow Leopard and so have many others according to the iStat devs (who also say a new version is in the works).

Just a warning to anyone upgrading!

And make sure you take a look through your system profiler app list and be sure to install rosetta if you have any ppc apps still running. Rosetta only takes 1.4Mb, so it's a good idea to include it on the install.
