Does anybody think they can modify the SMS app so it can work on the ipod through wifi?
Wi-fi and cell phones aren't the same kind of network at all, so I doubt it. Maybe you can find websites from which you can send an SMS but generally it's with your browser only, they have visual check codes to protect themselves from abuses/bots/...
Make an AIM account with AOL and e-mail to the persons phone like so--- let's say the persons area code and phone number are 6137425776
If you want to text that person, add their number onto AIM as +16137425776
Make sure you have the +1 and it will add them as a contact and you can text and they can text back from their phone while you do it from your iPod or computer
^ wow I typed all that out on my iPod in like... Three and a half minutes
i tried that and for somereason it wont work on virgin mobile phones so thats useless.
This is what I do
thats one free TXT messaging thing through the internet I use..but you can't receive TXT messages back.
thats what i used. i even made an app in my springboard that uses the iphone SMS icon. and you actually can recieve text messages back. they get sent to your email address. so if you havent done it already, i suggest getting the iphone Mail.app
Would it be possible to mod the iPhone SMS application and make it send free SMS messages through one of those free SMS websites' servers?
