First, everyone has been saying that the iPod touch 3G and 2G are (on the outside) physically the same.

    They aren't.

I checked the light sensor positions on the iPod touch 2G, and then compared to my 3G. They are in different positions.

That means that any iPod touch 2G cases being used for a 3G that have a small hole for the light sensor are actually blocking the one on the 3G.

Just FYI, it might be important for some people, myself included.

I tried to get a picture, but the light wouldn't co-operate...
So basically, we do need some iPod touch 3G cases...

Yeah, obviously it only affects certain cases.

I noticed that too, must've been to accommodate the use of multiple NAND chips or maybe the Camera (before it was scrapped).

I've got the Incipio Feather so this doesn't affect me fortunately

The camera is what I was thinking as well...

Anyways, just thought I'd tell everyone. I was going to buy a case specifically for the 2G, with the hole, and then checked the light sensor placement on my brothers and my own. Glad I did.

Pointless to you. For reasons you stated above.

I was wondering why there was a hole on my 2g case used for my 3g iPod Touch (I thought the manfacturer thought apple would release a camera with the 2g) or atleast I think its a 2g case.

The sensor is located on the top end of the device, just off centre slightly to the left.
