    Hi all,

I just got my new 32GB Touch 4G yesterday and restored all of my apps and music from the backup. I had an 3rd generation Touch before.

Now I realise that the performance of normal operations is worse than with the old model. For example if I open a folder. The animation is not as smooth anymore. Funnily enough that only happens when there are a lot of icons on the page. With less icons it is as smooth as before.

Also scrolling through long lists, e.g. App Store. Not as smooth as with the old model.

I really like the new Touch but I'm wondering if anybody is seeing this also. I'm tempted to raise this with Apple to see if they can fix it.

    Cheers

Second, make sure your running iOS 4.1. They said all the new touches will ship with them, but there could have been a mixup.

Let us know if that fixed it

Thanks for your quick reply. I'm already reading in forums for a while

Yes, the device is running iOS 4.1.

I also ended all of the background applications but that hasn't made any difference.

I'm also wondering if 3G Touches with 4.1 experience the same behaviour ?

I'm just a little bit concerned that the restore operation has overwritten some bits and pieces which it shouldn't have done. Sounds unlikely to me but you never know. But how else would one get all of the data back.

Is just a little bit poor that a brand new device with a more powerfull cpu feels not as good as the previous generation. There has to be something wrong.

    Cheers

Yes, I'm sure that there is no issue with over heating.
Turn the device on, expand a folder and it stutters.

Did you restore your Touch from a backup ? Or did you start fresh ?

Also, the slow folder expansions only occur on pages with lots of icons.

Since you restored from the backup (yes I can read, unlike some people) It retains "non ipt4g" files and it has some problems, try a fresh restore, restore and setup as a new device.

we are in the same boat here... mine seems to be a bit choppy sometimes... keyboard, downloading apps, etc. try restoring again. also try calling apple. i am gonna call then with my issues and see if i can get a new one or how to trouble shoot it.
