Hi. I have a 16GB Jailbroken iPod Touch. My sleep/wake button has not worked - I believe since I last jailbroke a little while ago (this isn't my first jailbreak, but it was restored completely before each one). I'm not sure whether it's a timing coincidence or a problem with the jailbreak. Pressing it does nothing from any screen. Before I came to make this thread, I was able to hold the button and get to the "Slide to Power Off" screen, but now it seems I am unable to do even that. Any suggestions?

(PS. The touch screen and home button are working fine.)

    *bump*

Sorry if bumbing is not allowed. But, it seems that every post since mine has had at least one reply, so I don't believe I am being an impatient forum noob, lol.

It seems like a hardware problem not a software problem.

Yea Have you tried reseting it?
Hold the Sleep button + The home button until it reboots.
    But its most likely hardware...

wow, thats weird, send it back to apple and tell them to give you a new one and yours is defective.

Good luck, i hope you get it fixed soon.

Thanks for the responses. I'm thinking it's a hardware problem too. It won't reset (sleep + home button) and I've restored it completely and it still doesn't work.

If I bought the iPod from a Best Buy, what would be the best course of action - bring it back to Best Buy, bring it to an Apple Store, or do an online Apple service request.

(Note: I've had the iPod for about a month now, and the button hasn't been working for about 3 days)

    Thanks for your help.

All you need to do is restart the springboard. Happened to me one night, but the installer used to say just restart springboard. Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies asado111 and moto617, but I said in my most recent post that I have already restored it (e.g. iTunes complete/factory settings restore) and the button still doesn't work, so it's not a springboard problem. I'll bring it back to Best Buy this weekend. Thanks for the help everyone.
