So I turned on Skype and left my ipod locked for a while (maybe an hour or two?), and when I looked again the battery was almost gone. It was at about 60% before that. Does skype usually waste battery or is it just my ipod?

No, Skype doesn't use battery, I mean, the battery is just there to give you a nice little icon at the topbar, you actually don't need it. /SARCASM

YES!!! Skype, as all other Apps wastes battery! If you don't need it, close it

    Not with multi-tasking.

Double-click the home button and you will see which apps are still running. Then you can close out the ones you no longer need.

The multi-tasking that Apple has come up with sucks. Listen to TouchFan, he knows how it goes down.

Tap the home button (to close the app), then double tap again (Multi-Tasking bar should come up), hold the Application icon that's running (just how you do it when you move icons around) and then tap the red/white dash to close.

    This officially closes the app.

It used to close the app when you press the home button, but with iOS 4 it changed that. Just do what he said above.

And I hope Apple fixes that issue as well, it's really inconvenient.
