I have 4 different mic/headsets that work with fring/skype, or any other recording or voice app.
The Phillips adapter, an altec lansing, and 2 regular 3.5mm cell phone headsets.
I've found that any mic/headset with 3.5 mm "3 ring" plug will work.
In other words any cell phone type headset that is 3.5mm and has 3 black rings on the plug.
I have even found a 3.5mm adapter and am able to use 2.5 mm cell phone headsets.
    Don't ask where, I don't remember.
I believe that you could also use the thumbtack mic from switcheasy if when in skype you turn on speakerphone.
