I have been using Fring for my skype needs, but it suffers due to lag. On my FIOS wifi connection, i am getting at least 2 full seconds delay which is almost the limit for having a proper conversation...

I'm wondering if there are any other VOIP apps (jailbroken or not, so i don't have to start another thread in the 'jailbroken' area) that offer less of a delay that will allow me to input my skype-out information and continue to make skype calls.

    thanks for the advice.

IM+ for Skype 10-day free trial, $29.95 one time fee.

Skype "out" is required: $10 account (authorize refill, if drops under $10; $30 unlimited per year, or free to a Skype pc or laptop).

Both are required, if you go this way.

Incomming internet telephone number is a separate purchase: get one each for "local calls" for family or friends or business calls.

I don't know about any others. I am interested in any others.

I have been eager to try truphone however the app store has a pop-up "This application is not available for this device."

I have heard truphone has excellent audio.

The walkie-talkie "web app" is computer-to-computer only.

Edit: I got the truphone app. The link somehow goes to music, not the "web app" store. I will let you know the performance, as soon as I can get an account so I can call a landline phone. Their login requires a telephome number. I sent their contact email I have an iPod Touch 2G. I do not have a telephone number on this device. I asked: do you have a SIP for incomming calls (from landline phones). I asked if I can get an account using the telephone number on my "prepaid" AT&T/Cingular cell phone.

I will give a full report.

i think truphone requires you to use their voip service? I'm looking for something that will let me use my skype-out minutes...

i'm currently looking into the jailbreak app 'siax'.... will report back...
