    Noob here...

Must an Ipod Touch be jailbroken to play music other than ITunes purchased/Ready??

I know it wont play DRM protected music but will it play MP3 music I rip on my own or get from some other method?

    Thanks

no,.,. just drag ur music into itunes and it will sync to ur ipod.
(however, jailbreaking is awesome for other reasons, and u should)
but ya all the music in ur 'itunes library' will be put onto ur ipod even if its ripped or downloaded from somewhere else online

No it doesn't have to be jailbroken. Just import your music into iTunes then sync and they should be on your iPod.

    2. iTunes Purchased = no. You can buy off Amazon MP3 or whatever.
iTunes Ready = iTunes has a built in WMA converter, so there aren't really many files it can't play. If you don't feel like converting, there is a way to play your non-iTunes-compatible audio files if jailbroken. (vlc4iphone)
    3. It will play music with an iTunes-DRM, and for the rest of that question, refer to #2.
