Silly ol' Apple....

    About a month ago, I jailbroke my iOS 4 running iPod touch 3G 64GB. Yesterday, I bricked. So, I upgraded to iOS 4.0.2. As I watched it download, I said my goodbyes to all my favorite jailbroken tweaks: Infinifolders, RAM up top, Winterboard, but the one I said I'd miss most of all is battery percent. So I let it update and install through the night. This morning,

    Yeah, I have an iPod touch running iOS 4.0.2 with battery percent. I guess Apple missed that part while updating.

    The battery percentage is an ios feature now

    Not for iPod touches, only iPhones.

    Because you restored from a Backup your Carrier Text and the Battery Percentage (If enabled) stay.

    That's because Apple introduced it with iOS 3.0 for the 3GS.
    It's not available for iPods (yet).

    That happens whenever you restore from a backup of a jailbroken iPod.

    It should if you update from a backup.

    Not completely sure, though.
