Do a iPhone signal quality test!

The bars that your iPhone displays are guesstimates of your true signal quality. To find the true quality of your signal go into the phone app and press *3001#12345#* and call. Look at the top left corner (where the bars are) and you will see some numbers. This is your -db number and is indicative of your signal strength. Its a negative number so lower is better.

    Anything below 75 is legit.
    85-75 is average.
    95 is getting kinda meh.
    110+ is wtf.

Mines about 100+ where i live and i get about 85 else where. What yours?

Mine is -91; and I usually see two bars at my house (not the best but it works).

Also, that is damn cool. Not too sure what all the other information is but I am impressed.

I found it on the Apple forums so don't give me the credit.

Field test has been around since the iPhone was introduced. Every phone has a field test application on it.

Thank you for the reminder though, as a lot of users probably weren't aware of this fact.

Thanks for the reminder, I hadn't even considered a field test on my iPhone (although I used to to it all the time to see how sh*tty my Sprint reception was on my Centro).

I'm jealous for at people who have less than -80 db. I'm in LA Country but live in a populated place where theres a bunch of apartments (interferance) plus a lot of smartphone users (people taking all the bandwith, etc). AT&T is too effin lazy to upgrade their networks because they think that they can mooch off of iPhone customers forever. I hope that AT&T burns when verizon gets the iPhone. They have meh coverage everywhere I go and **** coverage especially where I need it the most.
