Is there any way to shut down all open apps without completely restarting the iPod touch?

I normally hold the Home button when I want to completely shut down an app. Most of the time I will just use the same app and shut it down that way.

I remember reading a post from another member claiming that holding the home button down for 5 seconds will close all open apps.

Actually that is true, but it is 6 seconds not 5.

Actually, that only ends the current app you're in.
