I am planning on updating to iOS4 in the near future, but before I do, I need a little help with SHSH blobs.

While 3.1.3 was still being signed, I saved my SHSH blobs locally using the Umbrella application. Since then, my computer has been refurbished (wiped absolutely clean due to an aggressive virus). So if I need a file that was previously on my computer, it's not going to be there. However, Cydia tells me that "This device has SHSHs on file for iPhone OS: 3.1.3".

My question is: Does this mean I am still capable of downgrading if I were to update to 4.0? And if so, what method would I go by?

If it says you've got the blobs, go ahead and update.

Okay, but if I want to downgrade after trying out iOS4, how would I go about doing so?

I've already looked at that- it was pretty confusing, given my situation. Let me see if I have this straight:

    1. Enter the code provided into the hosts file
    2. Put my device into DFU mode
    3. Shift-click restore, and browse for my .ipsw
    4. Erase all entries from step one

Or do I need to use the Tiny TSS Quick Starter program somewhere throughout the process?

P.S. In the thread you linked, is the red text for people who have their SHSH on their computer?
