why wait or not wait? what are you after, and how eager are you? i'd buy now, then buy again in september if radically different.

It's a tough decision for everyone since we are half way in the product line, and makes you have to choose. I have a 1st gen, will not be getting a 2nd gen since I don't need the extra features on it. I just want an OLED screen on the 3rd gen. It really is just your choice if you should buy it now or not.

I'd say it depends if you want the jailbreak features:

If you do, it will be better to get the 2G as the jailbreak for the 3G will probably be a good while away.

Other than that, I'd personally still buy now, but I'm impatient so...

is OLED a flexable screen? if so then why would you want a flexable ipod?

The iPod itself wouldn't be flexible....the screen is smaller, consumes less power, and is brighter than a back-lit LCD. edit: Also apparently they have a refresh rate almost 1,000 times faster than LCD. =O

What I just learned though, is apparently there is an issue with the blue light...lasting only 14,000 hours while the red & green ones last 46,000 to 230,000 hours. =x

I don't know, but have you checked regular LCD life numbers? Does a regular LCD even last 14,000 hours? 14,000 hours is a long time. You'd have to leave your iPod on for over a year without turning off the screen for the light to die (583 days, hooray for third-grade caliber math skills).

I'm rather indifferent about the OLED screen myself.

Also, I'm sick of seeing these topics. 3.0 =/= new iPod. The new iPod will be here in about 6 months. Make your own decision. If it helps, the 3G probably will not be jailbreakable for a long while, if ever.

^ Apparently LCDs last 60,000 Hours. But thats from Wikipedia so...

And if you can, maybe think of waiting. But if you really want/need it now, or if you wanna jailbreak it now, then get it. But never complain if huge new features come with it.
