So I am going to get spending money jan of 2011 and I was wondering if people can tell me if I should get an ipad or not.

I just bought a macbook pro; my own money, I am not a kid who mooches off her mom or dad; and have been carrying it to college everyday for lectures and taking notes. It is only 13" but it has been getting kinda "heavy" and kind of a burden. I am thinking about getting an ipad and then downloading iwork onto it to be able to take notes at my lectures. Can ipad owners tell me if an ipad is good for my needs?

It should be perfect for your needs. And with iOS 4.2 coming out soon, The new "Airprint" will be great for printing your documents straight off the iPad.

Not really unless you get a bluetooth keyboard. But if you do get one and use it there is an app that records video while you are taking notes and syncs via keywords and such.

It would be essentially smarter to use a newer drive which is smaller and lighter. I would say get one but I personally would do it because that mac could have an effect on you.

13" is heavy? dude i see girls carrying the 15" on the train without a struggle. hit up p90x.
taking notes on the ipad for me is a hassle. you have to carry an extra keyboard with you. for example the apple keyboard dock functionality wise its awesome but the weird shape will eat up the volume in your book bag. or you can pick up a clam case.

I'd get the Ipad and use it. I know I use it a lot for college classes.

Or use PenUltimate to write notes with a stylus... I'd recommend you get the Targus stylus for iPad.

Honestly, though, the on-screen keyboard is not that bad once you get used to it. It's light, so you can touch-type on it just about as fast as you touch type on a regular keyboard.
