Well i have been a windows user all my life and ever since i got the touch i have been thinking about getting a mac laptop. I have a dell laptop right now and would most likely sell it. So i have some questions. How often do mac people get left out in terms of programs? I am not a big gamer anymore so i am not too worried about this. Please leave your thoughts. THanks!

I am in the same boat as you. Although I am a gamer, and I am going to keep a high end pc, I am also looking to buy a newer mac for my music recording needs. I think that Mac's are altogether better built and run smoother than pcs.

ok..i can say from experience (being a recent switcher myslelf) get a mac..i have found it to be good, if not, better than windows machines in terms of compatibility. it looks nice, no viruses, and expose(google it) is a big thing for me. also i am not one for gaming either by the way.

if you have any other questions, ask and if i know ill help you out.=]

EDIT: also, if you absolutely have to run an application that is ONLY for windows, then u can use virtual machines, or boot camp. (google thoes too)

You'll probably come across a lot of programs that won't work. I don't think theres many hardware upgrade options for mac's either. As for viruses, its pretty hard to get them, just stay clear of downloads and porn websites you don't know

You could get a PC and install linux if you want so it does not seem so much like a PC if it makes you feel better. In fact I see a lot more programs compatible with linux then mac.

If you plain to do some professional video editing, people I know with businesses tell me macs are by far the best for that usage. If your not then you will probably regret getting a mac.

I personally prefer Windows over Mac anyday. I must admit though Leopard and its features do seem very nice. Mac obviously can't compete in terms of hardcore gaming, multitasking, and whatnot, so it excels as multimedia especially images and movies. Though for real processing power I'd go with windows.

From my experience with mac they dont seem to freeze as much or be as slow.
Windows always freeze's on me... Which I hate.
Im only 13 so any thing I do isnt gonna be for money or something.
So I really just want it for media...

multitasking is an easy fix, with the core 2 duo you can a lot at once, and with spaces its even easier. My mac way out performs the pc i built. i put a 2.4ghz core 2duo in that, and i have 2.33 ghz in this, and this is MUCH faster than the pc. plus with fusion i run xp osx and linux all at the same time for their seperate purposes.
