Some sites are reporting that the SHAtter jailbreak originally discovered by pod2g is a tethered jailbreak. In fact, its tethered status has not been announced yet.

According to the Chronic Dev Team's blog :

"Anything you read saying it is one of the above in definite terms is just speculation, again, we have not given official word about the tether status or any details regarding the exploit used."

The team also reiterated this in a retweet yesterday, "SHAtter is not a tethered jailbreak nor it is untethered... @chronicdevteam have not yet announced anything about that. Stop speculations

Bullsh*t. By definition it is either one or the other. Maybe if they'd stop telling us lies people wouldn't speculate as much.

Not necessarily bullsh*t. Semi-tethered jailbreaks exist. It could be they're hinting to that.

Hm...true, I'd forgotten about those. Haven't seen that since the 2.1.x days.

Lawl, maybe they havn't found out yet??? The exploit is still being worked on so they don't know if it will be tethered or untethered, therefor it is neither.

When Posixninja first talked about the exploit he mentioned it was tethered

Back in those 2.2.1 days, Jailbreaks first were released as Tethered (like an Beta 0.5), later as semi tethered (Beta 1.0) and then as the final one untethered.

An exploit itself is neither tethered nor untethered; it's not even a jailbreak. All it is is a way to inject the jailbreak.
