    Hello,

I've recently used Ziphone to jailbreak my 8gb first generation ipod touch. I currently have itunes 7.5 and 1.1.4 ipod firmware on my computer.

When I use the installer application, only about a third of my downloads are successful. Most other downloads leave me an error message that reads, "package download failed". Why can't I download all applications? Is it a compatibility issue?

Another related issue: When I download free apps from the itunes store they show up in the right folder but I can't get them to transfer onto the ipod touch. My understanding is that new apps should install when the ipod touch is synchronized. What am I missing here?

As always, I appreciate your help. I hope to gain enough knowledge of my new device so that i can someday help other forum members learn to get the most out of their ipods.

    Thanks,

    Doug

You can't have AppStore apps on 1.1.4.
Upgrade to 2.2 and get Cydia; 1.1.4 and Installer are dead.

First of all, upgrade to 2.0 no one develops apps for 1.x.x anymore. then jailbreak with quickpwn and use cydia.

Thanks everyone...I'm living in the "stone age" of ipod apps. I'll look for some good websites to download cydia. Is there a small fee for upgrading to 2.2. firmware?

    Yes; 10 dollars.
When you jailbreak 2.2, Cydia is installed by default.
