Here's an extremely simple little thing I wrote today - save it as "ip" to /bin.

    Code:
echo "Setting IP to.. " $1
    ifconfig en0 $1
echo "IP has been set to " $1
    Chmod it to +x (chmod +x /bin/ip)

With this, you can now change your WIFI ip by typing..

    Code:
    ip 10.0.1.x
Replacing X with the desired IP.

    Enjoy.

the IP has to be on the same range as your routers' DHCP range, or at least be on the same gateway if you plan on having internet access/network access (ie you cant use an IP like 10.0.0.10 if your routers' gateway is 192.168.10.1 for example, or use an IP like 10.0.0.10 if your router hands out IP addresses on a completly different range/subnet). i would probably update your initial post reflecting this.

Cool little script, but can't the same effect be achieved by setting a static IP?
