Today I tried to upgrade my ipod to 3.0 fw and it was all fine until the itunes and USB screen came up and my ipod wont connect to my itunes. First of all I had one error message which I looked up and someone said restarting the computer works, so I tried that. After restarting I got a different message upon connection which was 0xE800005D, now I had a little poke around without much result, so now i'm turning to you guys for aid.
I'm panicking a little, this is a very expensive piece of kit and I really would like it to work again and I don't care what I have to do.

I appreciate any help you could offer.
    Thanks in advance.

Put it in DFU mode, there's a tutorial around here somewhere if you don't know how to do it. Then restore back to 2.2.1. You should be fine then.

I'd wait for 3.0 to come out before you start messing with it again
