you can save the normal in-game way if you want, if savestates aren't working

they work fine for me though o.o (on 1.1.3)

there are 2 types of saves for pokemon ...
ingame save just like if it was on GBA or
bookmark save when you press menu on the top.... when you press menu you get a pop up click yes to save then go back to gpsphone saves tab to restart it

FTP or SSH or whatever into your IPOD. Look for the media folder and change its permissions to 0777 then you want to find the ROMs folder and change its permissions to 0777 after that find the GBA folder and change its permissions to 0777 and the last thing find your roms and change them all to 0777. Now whenever you press the menu button (or Z button like some people have) it will ask you to save, then just do so, go to your save games tab and continue where you were.

if youre using 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 with 1.50 GPSPhone:
saving game states by pressing the home button (the button that exit the game and bring you to the GPSPhone menu)
you should see in the saved games tab: gamename.gba.(random numbers).dates.svs (<- file extension)
    for example: Pokemon Fire Red.gba.1231231231.2008.03.03.16.50.svs
    go to mobile finder:
    /var/root/media/ROMs/GBA
    find the .svs file
rename it to the SAME name as your GBA game but keep the .svs extension
for example: Pokemon Fire Red.svs (assuming your GBA file is Pokemon Fire Red.gba)
you should be able to load the .svs file and resume playing
this is how i play fire red with multiple starters (squirtle and chammander)
because if you dont do this, the GPSPhone cannot load the .svs file (dunno why)
