I presume this works, give it a try
You can send SMS messages from any email client. All you need to do is find the correct ending. For instance, Verizon's is ###-###-####@vtext.com. And with that method, you can actually receive messages, too.
what would it be for at&t ?
does it work with U.S. stuff?
ok cool, so tell me more
if ive got the mail app on my touch, hooked up to gmail, how do i get t his to work?
1. What is the sprint email ending? (EDIT: Already know it from danls92)
2. What would the reciever (cell phone user) have to do to send it to your email? (I.e. put in your email?)
Just do what jaggedtoaster said, and send an email to ###-###-####@(whatever the carrier's email address is).com
Here are some popular ones:
Virgin Mobile: email@example.com
They just reply like it was a normal text message, or send it to your email address (just normal, nothing special needed).
you can just have your friend send a text to your email address and it will give you the right number / addy
is there any way to find out what phone carrier the person ur trying to send a text to is?
Wow, it seems that I excited everyone. I suppose you would just have to ask the person which carrier they use. But hey, whatever works.
(And this is random, but thanks for making the amazing videos ipodtouchmaster. They will help me out greatly on Christmas. I can't wait!)
Separate names with a comma.
