    Hey everyone, I recently got a broken 2G 16GB ipod touch that was still under warranty so I was able to get it replaced for a new (or refurb) one. I did not go into an Apple store, I mailed it to Apple. Its warranty ends Sept 16, 2010, but it also has the 90 day warranty on it. So, if I were to have a problem with it in the near future and I brought it into an Apple store would they need a receipt (which I obviously don't have) or any other proof of ownership to do any exchanges or repairs on it? Also, should I extend the Applecare?

    Sorry if this has been answered!

    Thanks =)

    you dont need a receipt they just check your ipod's serial number on their site to see if it is still under warranty,personally i wouldn't extend applecare on a 2g ipod becuase it is about a fourth of the price of a new ipod but depends on how long you think you will have it for.

    just goto https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do to check your ipod warranty details.

    Hope this helps!
