A ULTIMATE FACT THREAD
I was aspiring to make a ultimate fact thread but now im doing it

First im going to start out with solely basic stuff

Where should I buy an Itouch; Online or at a Store

Well most of the time its a prefrence thing but here a breakdown between buying somthing online or at a tangible store

Online
The facts about online shopping
*No paper only plastic (most of the time)
*You will most of the time have to pay for shipping
*To some people it gets addictive
*Unless you pay extra for express or next day shipping you will have to wait 5-6 BUSINESS DAYS(count the days except Saturday and Sunday)
Pros:
1. No taxes
2. Sometime you can find better deals online.
3. Doing research on your own time and buying it on your own time
4.No real buying obligation(like when you walk into a store and say im going to buy this because I came all the way here for it )

Now we are going to discuss the two or three "cliques" <-- (Stolen from Skylar [Ill miss your apps Skylar ] )

Zibri and his blog:
Zibri is credited for making Ziphone which Iphone users couldnt complain about I mean Ive done it my self and took about 10 min. But heres the downside to Ziphone even though he made a post saying that It works with a I touch . Even though he stated that Ziphone was never intended for the itouch in the video he posted it "works" for the 8gig if you try on a 16gig or a 32gig you will get the infamous "BSDroot: major2 minor0 " error wich you will have to restore your Ipod from there. And since itwasnt intended for the Itouch some apps "dont work" its not that they dont work its just that the app are getting saved in the /media file instead of the /libary so some people complain about no sound on IAno or TTR doesnt let me download from "new tracks' or My books arent showing up or "my iphyics levels arent soming up" Im not going to go into personal thoughts or commets because I want this to be a compleatly un biased thread

The DEVteam:
Even though some hate them I wouldnt knwo where we'd be without them they (I think) have been around the longest im pretty sure. Not much to say because I really dont knwo much about them

Since now the 1.1.4 upgrade and people are in a mad dash to jailbreak 1.1.4 even though Ziphone2.3 wasnt made for 1.1.4 and the Devteam wants to come out with another SoftUpgrade I think or you can wait for a real jail break or wait on this Guy--------->http://ijailbreak.com/ WHO IS FIANALLY OFFERING ITOUCH SUPPORT for his next version which I will recomend because It will actually be fully compatible with Itouch and not just 8gig I hope
Ultimately Its your decion I mean somepeople are still on 1.1.1 and proud of it.


First it depends on how you want to jailbreak. If you have an 8gig and want to jailbreak it and use 1.1.3 or 1.1.4<.< using Ziphone be my guest you can find him at ziphone.org

Or do you want to be on a Jailbroken 1.1.1 this is what you do (im assuming your on a higher version than that)

1. Download the 1.1.1 firmware I posted above
2. Save it to someplace remorable on your desktop
3. Plug in your ipod to Itunes
4. Click on the Ipod Icon on the side bar when your on Itunes
5. Make sure on the page that says "Check for updates" and "Restore" are
6. *IMPORTANT PART* Hover mouse over restore now this is what you do hold down the shift button, (option on Mac correct me if im wrong) and click restore
7. now find the firmware you downloaded and click ok
8. Wait for restore to finish
9. On your itouch go to Jailbreakme.com
10. Click(Touch???) install App snapp

Viola now your on jailbroken 1.1.1

hey can I get those Iphone apps on here too
Actually YES you can

1. go into installer
2. click sources along he bottom
3. click edit
4. click "add"
5. now type in http://applerepo.890m.com/iphone.xml
6. click ok then let it refresh then go to the install tab and install those apps!

What apps should I get
Well I think the most common and used one are TTR, WeDict, Iphyics, SummerBoard, Customize, SSH (discussed later), NES PSX GBA SNES emulators, and a new one is Iano, and books is a good one if you like to read.

Wait ive changed my mind I want to go to a jailbroken 1.1.2
Ok, ok
Just make sure your on a jailbroken 1.1.1

1. First download Oktoprep from installer
2. then download the 1.1.2 firmware I posted above
3. then download the 1.1.2 jailbreak http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/1.1.2-jailbreak.zip
4. save all of it to your desktop to a place you can remember
5. plug Ipod into itunes
6. go to the restore and shift+click it find your 1.1.2 firmware
7. wait
8. then when its done this is wgat you do
9. open the 1.1.2 jailbreak file
10. Kill all Itunes processes by opening up the task manager go to proceses and kill everything ipod or itunes related(for safety)
11. Run jailbreak

Your done


wait before your done I wanna jailbreak 1.1.3 for kicks

Rubs head. ok first we need to talk THERE ARE NUMEROUS WAYS TO JAILBREAK !.1.3 and (im not sure if im gonna talk about the softupgrade though )

Ijailbreak: its a installer based jailbreak means No comp (It will make you or break you lol) JBTime:approx:45min

1. make sure your running on a JB 1.1.1 or 1.1.2
2. add this source ijailbreak.com/repo.plist
3. go under ijailbreak and choose the right one for you if you on 1.1.1 choos the 1.1.1->1.1.3 if your on 1.1.2 choose the 1.1.2 to 1.1.3
4. wait go watch tv or something
   *IMPERITIVE MAKE SURE YOUR IPOD HAS A FULL OR GOOD ENOUGH CHARGE TO BE ON FOR 45 MIN STRIGHT
   

Or You can use ZIphone Stright on a unjailbroken 1.1.3

1.download Ziphone
2.extract it somewhere
3.put Ipod in restore mode(turn ipod off [for me to restore I have to have it connected to my comp for some reason] hold top and home button for 30 sec til the "connect to Itunes screen pops up"
4.run ziphone GUI click Jailbreak
5.wait
6.done


WAIT WHAT ABOUT 1.1.4
well I reccomend waiting at leaset 3 more days for the new Ziphone or what ill be using the new Ijailbreak which actually has itouch support You can do it the way everyone else is currently or you can wait your choice

DATE: 2/27/08 Jailbreaking 1.1.4
just update to 1.1.4 through itunes
Repeate steps 1-6 above
Done

The SDK... what if it isn't open to all developers and everyone? I mean, what if it is only an "enterprise tool" and thus goes to only the companies/groups apple approves of?

If its only open to enterprises That would be dastorous!!!! BIG COMPANIES MAKING SEMI-USEFUL APPS LIKE "MOVIE TIME CHECKER" and "FANDANGO" "MOOD PAD" "Find out your mood by touching the pad"lol but really if it was only avaible to enterprices I would start a march outside of apple Inc
