I have searched all over the place, and it seems like no one is having this problem. My iPod touch (3.1.2 jailbroken) will not rotate into landscape mode in any app that allows it. However, when playing accelerometer games such as doodle jump it works fine, so I know that it's not a hardware issue. I did not update or drop it recently either. I installed the rotation toggle for sbsettings which didn't do anything.

If anyone can help it's greatly appreciated !!

The rotation toggle has to be turned on for apps to rotate.

I do have it enabled in sbsettings, but it stopped working before I installed that. I installed it to see if it would fix the problem but it didn't help.

itouch will not rotate to landscape mode

Hi headreaper, it sounds the same - my itouch won't rotate to landscape mode in any app. Its been upgraded to the newest OS and is not jail broken. I haven't tried any other apps and I haven't done a restore of the OS yet which seems to be the only recommendation I see on other forums - unfortunately everyone who says they did this also says it didn't help.

    Thanks

    Found a Fix:
I got my phone today (iphone 4) and am completely new with it. but i had the same trouble. what fixed it for me was going to the home screen, hitting the home button twice (which brings up your multi tasking menu). and next to the music player options is a locking button for landscape rotation. try clicking that button and see what happens. easiest way to test is to go to a text message.
