I have only had my iPhone 3G for a little over a week now and it seems that there is a tiny little scratch but its under the screen for some reason? do u think it apple would replace it for me considering its under the surface?

most likely yes, maybe a result of overheating

on macrumors there were several reports of dust under the screen. take it back and if the genius can tell its under the screen they should swap it out.
