I bought an iPod touch 2G back in September and just recently noticed that the screen does not appear to be centered. On the right edge, all pixels are used and the screen lines up flush with the black edge. On the bottom, there appears to be a line about 2 pixels thick of unused pixels between the used screen and black edge. On the left and top edges, the lines of unused pixels appear to be about 4 or 5 pixels thick, giving the screen a slightly off centered appearance. The unused pixels are sometimes hard to see, but show up slightly grey against the black border in the right light.

    Basically, my two questions are:
    1. Has anyone else noticed this issue on their iPod?
    2. Does anyone know if there is a way to reset the screen position or recalibrate the screen so that all pixels are used?

I only noticed this issue recently so I'm not sure if my screen was always like this and i just noticed it or if it somehow got un-calibrated by something I did.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Nick

thanks guys, I tried powering off then powering back on, saw no change, so I took a closer look with the iPod powered off and could still see the grey border around the darker LCD hinting that it was just the way the Touch is built. Still, it strikes me as a bit odd that it wasn't constructed with the screen perfectly centered.

I have same problems here too.
I already exchanged mine 2 times, and still I have same problem..
I called tons of times to apple, but it looks like they don't have any idea what's going around..

This weekends, I'm going to exchange one more time again..
You can tried to exchange yours too if it's not too late...
They said they can give you/me the service replacement or refurbished one.

it'is extra glass around the screen, all the ipod touches are the same, the 1g's de 2g's, so stop complaining, it is not like you have dead pixels

Yeah, this is a thing people think is a defect. It is completely normal, it's just the edge of the screen, a bit like laptop monitors. My MacBook's screen isn't right towards the edge (I think)
