school wifi... kinda works but....

    ok... so i can connect to the school wifi, the school gave me the password!! lol... but i cant use any apps with it but safari... like beejive im, cydia, mail, and weather apps dont work... how can i get them to work?? is because there filters??


    p.s. i live in las vegas, nevada so i am in ccsd school district....

    They probably put filters on. So unless you know how to bypass those, I'd stick with home Wi-Fi.

    well i know the proxy settings and port number to connect to wifi.. but can they really block other apps from using wifi?? this also counts for youtube... gr....

    edit... nobody??

    They can block acess to specific sites and servers that your apps use, Beejive uses an IM server, your school dosen't want kids IMing so the IM server that beejive uses is blocked, theres no easy way past it.

    It's the filter. My school does the same thing. Since you're connecting to their network, you're playing by their rules. There really is no way around it, in my experience.

    well if this is the case then can i make it so the mail app is run through a personal server with gmail instead of imap.gmail.com or what ever it is....lol.... and how would i do this???

    Can I pleasee get the wifi code , I live in Vegas too. Lol and I've been looking for the wifi password everywhere. Lol

    how are we ment to know your schools/locations wifi password.... its kinda like trying to get home when you dont know where you live/are... well not really but long story short... we dont know and probly never will
