    Here's mine, except it this was scanned like 8 months ago. It's about three times worse than that right now, but I could care less as long as it works.

    I'd literally cry if my iPod's back looked like that.. Mines mint as of the moment, and I want it to stay that way but that's gonna be impossible (Damn pocket lint and it's apparent sandpaper like texture..).

    Nah, probably not the lint that gets it, just the countless times that you set it on a table is plenty to get it nicely scratched up.

    100% safe, it's just light hitting the back of your iPod. Heck, I bet an iPod touch could take a magnet.
