After doing my daily Cydia check for updates, I decided to click on the link saying "Upgrading to 3.0.1? Read This" located on the Cydia home screen. I scrolled down and noticed a very interesting note by BigBoss or saurik:

I don't know what he means by this. Maybe he is working on a way to back up all the jailbroken data somewhere and they easily restoring it? Or maybe he is working on a way to keep Cydia present through the upgrade process...a.k.a. a permanent jailbreak. Although it is unsure what he is planning, it is still pretty exciting for the jailbreak community.

Cool, I hope they can make this work with 3.1 too.

    I'm hope so, too.
If they can't, I'll probably just restore and set up as new.

Yeah looks nice. Perhaps like a package backup app that actualy backs up the packages and not just a list of them to reinstall after?

    Possibly.

But that would take a while for the iPhone to back all of those files up...
    We'll see.
