The click wheel is good for some things, but definitely not as good as the multi-touch on the iPod Touch. They should kill it. I tried it the other day in the Apple store on the Classic, and it took some work to make it pick up my finger moving...

I have never liked the click wheel or Shuffle.
Apple should have killed the Shuffle when the they made the Nano that small, multitouch square. Really, that's the size of a Shuffle, and that's what the Shuffle is for: its small size. I think even better would be for them to just label that the Shuffle and have a different design for the new Nano.
I'm sure Apple thought through that though, and thought of some aspect I haven't.

The Click Wheel was absolutely infallible compared to other Players with finger-based navigation implementations like those available on iRiver players, the original Zune players and players by Creative. My first iPod was back in 2005, and it was the original gumstick Shuffle. I got the Nano the following year after I needed more space than 512MB. Yeah, having the 512MB iPod was the equivalent of having the 64GB iPhone. It was something like a celebrity status.

I never had an iPod video, or an iPod classic. I had the Nano Gen 1 and 2 before I got the iPod Touch. The Click Wheel was great! So much fun, really felt like you were interacting with your music player. Though sometimes it could hurt your thumb :p.

I agree with the fact that the Shuffle needs to be axed. It's good to clip on when you go running, but I honestly prefer making a playlist on my phone, hitting Shuffle, turning the screen off and going for my workout. As for the Nano though, it needs to stay. And hopefully it retains the Click Wheel. If not, it'll be a sad loss.

It is time for something new. But they need to keep the Click Wheel too...

Don't mention creative >_< worst players on earth. I have one and it is terrible. :p

I agree that it is better than the other players on the market. Zunes...blech...they are always having flash storage problems. They are a discontinued product, I believe...

Yeah, and that Parachute game. The ones where you would shoot the person's parachute and they'd fall to their death?;)

My Dream ipod classic would be :

iRE-invent the ipod classic by updating and adding more features to the ipod Classic such replace the current harddrive with a ssd/flash drive which will make it even thinner then it is now...add a FM Radio chip, WiFi chip,Atleast 512mb of ram to handle the processes, A 720p camera like the ipod touch has and a App store, so developers can develop internet apps such as Internet radio and T.V, RSS feed reader,Twitter, I-Tunes Store what ever there imagination takes them really. It may be more expensive and limited to the ipod Touch but i believe the IPod Classic will sell more then they do now.

I imagine it being a pain in the ass using your dream features with a click wheel. Plus most of your features are already in the iPod touch.
I think with flash storage getting less expensive slowly but surely we'll see an iPod touch with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. Then the classic is obsolete.
