This is a discussion thread for the "Samsung on Patent War with Apple: "This is Worth It"" story posted on the front page.
So are they saying the only reason they're in it is non-traditional advertising? Getting their name out there thru the courts?
^ Hmm, I feel like that's true though. In America Apple is dominant but other countries I've been to, the story is different
I'm gonna bring up my recycled point; Samsung got 9 million pre orders outside of the US on the first day alone. No Android device has ever gotten that popular single handedly. I mean it took Samsung about 8 months to sellb20 million Galaxy S II's, and now they hit half that amount in just a day (assuming everyone who preordered is buying). Brand awareness really has gone through the roof (and maybe even through the Galaxy, to play on words). Dont know if that's all because of the courts, but if it is, good job Apple. By trying to kill the competition, you made it bigger and even more threatening.
If you saw Samsung's earlier commercials compared to Droid's (A.K.A Motorola) commercials for their phones, Samsung's appealed to the common user (middle class suburb person), which accounted for WAY bigger percentage of population than Motorola's who tried to appeal to buisiness users, who appeal to a smaller percentage of people. Point is, if you want to sell, advertise baby!
Samsung is the #1 phone manufacture now. They make a lot of parts in the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch (mainly the processor) and their smartphones (and dumbphones) are very popular in America and worldwide (if you didn't know, the rest of the world mainly uses dumbphones except for places like UK). They make billions off Apple. I don't even know why Apple continues with these lawsuits...Was it something Steve Jobs said?
