    Hi!!

I have a Ipod Toch 1G. I am running on firmware 2.1 jailbroken.
Even if I delete cookies, cache and recent visited websites in preferences I can't get rid of the list of websites I already visited when I type a new adress. This is &%§&%§ privacy...

Can I get rid of this data? I am as said jailbroken...

Bookmarks, History, Clear. There you go, and stop looking at boobies.

Unless you're visiting websites you're not supposed to, there's really no reason to get rid of them

After updating and jailbreaking itunes copied a data backup on the ipod. Can this cause problems in my state? Some permission problems?

    haha too

does anyone know where the cache file is located which contains this data.

When I clear the data everything is cleared I had visited after having updated and jailbroken. Some old data bevor the update isn't cleared. I think there is an issue with the backup itunes copied back after the update...

there can be 2 reasons that you can't get rid of these files, both cases are easy to solve:
1.your safari is still running in the background while you tried deleting these files
SOLVE: switch to safari app and don't quit it by just hitting the home button once BUT hold the home button 6-7secs until safari closes.

2.if #1 fails then your permissions of those files are wrong (yes sometimes itunes could do that if you restore your ipod from its backups...)
SOLVE: download a terminal app from cydia (the console stuff...) and open it, then:
    type in
"login root" [ENTER] -> Password is "alpine"
    "cd /var/mobile/Library/" [ENTER]
    "chmod 777 Safari" [ENTER]
    "chmod 777 Cookies" [ENTER]
    (dont forget the Uppercases!!)

after that everything should be fine.
but ever remind that you have to close safari completly b4 cleaning privacy-related files...

    //EDIT:
your bookmark-file can be also a problem...it's located here:
    "/var/mobile/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist"
(all the other files are also located there)

hope i could help you - still any questions? just post them

Thanx!! I tried both solutions... The rights were on 700 before... I changed them with winscp.
But the autocomplete-list still contains old data (since before my update to 2.1).
New internetsites I surfed on since the update are deleted from the list. But the old data stays.
Is there another location where this autocomplete data can be stored. Seems to me that there should be two locations...
