Now That Safari 5.0 is released, which is the fastest of the browsers? Does anyone have any benchmarks on this if Safari 5.0 is faster than the latest build of chrome?

Safari and Chrome are actually the same thing, but reskinned versions. They perform at par. Safari is better with JavaScrpit and HTML5, while Chrome performs better with other things.

Chrome, though has extensions and customization and is much lighter, so i use it.

    The perform almost equally though.

I use Chromium because it's easier to keep everything synced together. Plus it never crashes on me.

Chrome is faster than Safari, end of story (though I do use Opera).

I know many people find Chrome faster and benchmarks prove this but in real life on my computer Minefield i.e Firefox trunk, its faster on day to day stuff. And why do people say chrome is lighter, it's not, Chrome itself is a larger download and due to its multi-process nature if you have lots of tabs open is consumes way more memory than firefox.

The only reason anybody elses Firefox may be consuming more memory is due to extensions, the only gripe I sorta have with Firefox is that occasionally it hogs the CPU for a few seconds every so often.

Back to the question, if I had to choose I would say Chrome due to the fact I prefer tabs on top and in general the way it handles tabs.
