Undeniable that this will happen. Can't see why Apple would have 4 generations of iPhones on the go at once plus the 3GS is just outdated. Poor resolution and won't be able to handle with future versions of iOS so there will no longer be appealing

I could be wrong, but I just envisioned the iPhone lineup being as follows:

    8GB iPhone 3GS -- 8GB iPhone 4S -- 16/32/64GB iPhone 5

So basically, the 8GB iPhone 4 is dropped and replaced by the 8GB iPhone 4S.

I don't believe this at all.
Apple says iPhone 3GS will support iOS 6, that surely means it has 1 year left in it.

And from running my own phone shop, the 3GS is the MOST wanted iPhone out of them all, because it's cheap very reliable, can be unlocked easily. It doesn't have Poor resolution, it's about average and you can only tell when put next to another phone.

I highly doubt Apple is dropping it yet.

Why not the 3G was slowly phased-out and then dropped when iOS 4 came out and a 8GB 3GS was released.

But the 3Gs supports iOS6. I cannot see Apple doing this for another year...

The main reason I would see it supporting iOS 6 is that they are still selling it. Apple can't just drop a product from supported when they just sold you a new one. Bad for business.

Unless it was an online order only and they took it out of their Stores. In my Apple store they only have like five 3Gs iPhones...it wouldn't be hard to just recycle those (assuming Apples stores don't have many).

Just because they updated doesn't mean they have to continue selling it. Not upgrading it might alienate a too big portion of their user base. I'm sure they monitor their statistics about such things. A reason not to sell it is that the iOS 6 update it gets lacks most new features so they'd probably have a problem marketing it well.

I have to disagree with you here. The low resolution is very noticable if you've ever seen another phone in the last year or two, even without directly comparing them. It is not average, it is quite mediocre to be honest.
